Newsec’s new Roihu office in Ruoholahti, Helsinki has been awarded as the best responsible work environment in Rakli’s Workplace Awards competition, which highlights best practices in workplace management. This year, ten work environments took part in the responsibility category.
The design of Newsec’s new, sustainable work environment, created by the real estate expert company, began with strategic changes towards greater responsibility and a more human-centered approach, as well as the company’s strong growth between 2018 and 2021. The Newsec Experience work environment project was launched at the beginning of 2021, and the staff moved into the new premises in the summer of 2023.
The jury justified its choice of winner as follows: Newsec won the responsibility category with its work environment development project, which was carried out using the company’s own experts. The diversity of personnel at different levels was reflected in the decisions. The jury also praised the comprehensive and clear implementation, in which the different aspects of responsibility were taken into account at every stage of the project.
In spatial design, sustainability is emphasized from every perspective. Social responsibility focuses on people’s well-being and sense of community, environmental responsibility is reflected in low-carbon spaces and environmentally efficient solutions, and economic responsibility is highlighted as administrative efficiency and overall economically sound solutions.
“It’s wonderful to receive this kind of recognition and to feel that the work we do for a responsible work environment is appreciated. The win inspires us to learn more about responsibility and to further develop these themes together with our clients. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the different stages of the project, as well as all Newsec employees who, through their daily work, make Roihu’s office a responsible workplace,” summarises change management expert Susanna Pietarinen reflecting the thoughts of the project team members who were there to receive the award.
At the heart of the project and the new work environment are people, in line with the company’s most important value, Passion for Colleagues and Clients.
"I want to thank the project team for their commitment throughout the different phases and for creating an amazing end result! A big thank you also to all our staff for actively participating in the co-development of the premises and, above all, for using the spaces and creating the spirit," describes CEO Anna-Liisa Sarasoja as she reflects on her feelings after the win.
The aim of the Workplace Awards competition of Rakli ry, the association of property owners and developers, is to improve the recognition and societal impact of workplace management by highlighting the best examples of developing hybrid work environments. The competition has four categories: Organisational Culture and Leadership, New Tools and Technology, Physical Work Environment, and Responsibility.
