The impact made by Newsec

Reducing emissions

The built environment is responsible for nearly 40% of the world's CO2 emissions. It goes without saying that the real estate sector plays a key role in reducing this share. As the largest advisor and leader in Northern Europe, we are in our part transforming properties from a challenge into a solution.

Promoting the transition to renewable energy sources

We are a strategic advisor in as much as one third of renewable energy transactions in the Nordic and Baltic markets (2022), which makes us a catalyst for the ongoing energy transition.

Protecting the most valuable assets

Real estate is the world's largest asset class and central to much of society's economic development. Many properties are built to last a hundred years or more, but they require care and development, not least to ensure sustainability. We are committed to long-term consistency in all our property management mandates.

Caring for people

People spend an average of about 90% of their time inside buildings. We expect modern homes, workplaces, and marketplaces to provide experiences that help us live enriched and fulfilling lives. We look for a safe, convenient, and value-adding urban environment, which is why Newsec is committed to the digitalization of the real estate sector and wants to play a key role in urban development.

Megatrends

We want to be involved in building a sustainable society, and therefore we keep an eye on both existing and emerging megatrends. We interpret how these trends affect society, our clients, and us.

Urbanization

Cities occupy about 3% of the Earth's surface, they are home to over half of the world's population, and they consume about 75% of the world's energy (and 80% of carbon dioxide emissions). This increases the demand for sustainable solutions related to energy, infrastructure, buildings, and resources.

Urban areas around the world also face numerous human and societal challenges in health, safety, and general well-being. This imposes both obligations and opportunities on private and public actors to make cities places where people can live and thrive.

Digitalization

More and more of society's key functions in mobility, industry, communication, and housing are being digitalized, bringing about massive changes. We see digitalization enabling new business models, improving efficiency, and creating new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Digitalization is an important part of the transition towards a more sustainable society for the environment by enabling electrification and utilizing data and technology to create better processes.

Climate change and scarcity of resources

We must address the risks associated with climate change, resource scarcity, the loss of biodiversity, and societal changes, while simultaneously creating real and long-term value for businesses.

Kiinteistöalan on tehtävä käytännön päätöksiä ja uskallettava määritellä uudelleen ja ajatella alaa sellaisena kuin me sen tunnemme tänään, jotta voimme toteuttaa vihreää siirtymää.

The big challenges of tomorrow, like climate change, will be won or lost in cities.
